Behind the Music

Rumford Junction is a Rhode Island based acoustic roots/ folk group featuring 2 guitarists/vocalists, accordion, fiddle and drums/ percussion. They play several original songs as well as covers by artists such as Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, The Band, Jason Isbell, and more.

The origins of Rumford Junction starts during the pandemic of 2020. As a group of neighbors from Rumford, Rhode Island, they started playing music together on front lawns and porches during the spring and summer of 2020, as a way to entertain themselves and their neighbors. The jams became something to look forward to over many months of pandemic-imposed boredom but they soon realized that they love making music together. In 2021 they started performing at nearby Hunts Mills, as a way to hone their skills and add another dimension to the monthly "Open House" events organized by the East Providence Historical Society.
